Adoption Clinic:

Aims:

• Developmental assessments for children awaiting adoption.
• To provide an effective assessment service to shorten the waiting periods currently experienced in Government institutions, thereby speeding up the adoption process.
• To determine the cause of the developmental delay observed in each particular case.
• To provide on going therapeutic intervention to assist in preventing future disability and to promote normal development.
• Where disability is present, to provide ongoing therapeutic intervention and support to children’s homes in order to promote optimal functioning.

Actions:

• By having a centralized facility from which to operate our clinic
• By having a clinic dedicated to adoption cases with set days and times.
• Standardized report format with developmental checklists used by all therapists to make our assessment tool user friendly and uniform.
• Provide reports within a week of request from relevant organisations
• Follow up therapy is done on a fort-nightly basis.
