Thusanani run regular workshops for caregivers and volunteers concentrating on the importance of play, developmental milestones, stimulation, the importance of touch and creating a bond and the impact of not providing these to children. A manual including notes from the workshop and cost effective ideas to promote play and appropriate stimulation is provided to each participant. The sessions are interactive and practical. The final morning where the participants make cost effective toys from waste is often the highlight of the training! On completion, the participants receive a certificate and are provided with a 'starter toy making kit' to encourage them to start making toys in their own communities.
Currently our training includes:
Homes Training for caregivers from children’s homes : 3 mornings over a 3 week period
Community Training for caregivers /crèche workers : 3 mornings over a 3 week period
from community crèches:
We also contribute a module on Developmental Milestones and Stimulation for the ‘Basic Child Health’ training run by Bigshoes Foundation.
